Who are these guys and what the hell are they talking about?

Erik and Tim are baseball nerds in Seattle who have shared season tickets to the Mariners in one form or another since 1995—sitting in Section 327, where this Substack gets it name, since 2008. When the baseball version of Immaculate Grid broke, they began sharing answers and thoughts and the most trivial of trivia with each other; then they figured if they were going to waste this much time, they might as well waste it out in the world. You’re welcome.

Each has his own website: eriklundegaard.com and starshiptim.com. Erik’s is largely about movies, Tim’s mostly nerdy stuff. Both talk baseball; both can get political.

But for the nuanced nonsense of the Grid, subscribe here. Find answers to such perennial questions as: Why do we remember benchwarmer Tom Lawless but not All-Star Julio Franco, who played for 23 distinguished seasons? Do people really care this much about the Silver Slugger Award? And why can’t Baseball Reference find a better photo of Frank Howard?

All this and much, much more.

Kidding. It’s just this.

Discussion between two nerdy baseball fans in Seattle about those damn Immaculate Grids. And maybe other stuff.

Tim has been attending Seattle Mariners games since 1991. He's seen the good, the bad, the ugly, the Arquimedez Pozo. He's been a teacher, a cartoonist, a retail sales monkey, a graphic designer, and an IT tech. He also umpires rec league softball.
Erik's favorite teams are the Mariners, the Twins and whoever is playing the Yankees. He writes movie reviews in his spare time and is working on a book about James Cagney. 他的中文不太好.
